A beautiful tropical plant, the Calathea will lift the look of any room with its spectacular foliage.
You can tell I'm a medallion, because my leaves are made up of concentric patterns, rather than stripes.
 
The 'Medallion' variety has light and dark green patterns on the tops of the leaves and a deep purple underside. Watch its leaves open and close at dawn and dusk. Plus, it's a mighty air purifier so it'll clean up any nasties from your room too. Keep the soil moist but not overwatered and move away from direct sunlight.

HUMIDITY
She loves moist air. A bathroom would be perfect, but she’ll also be happy if you mist her every couple of days.
 
MEDIUM LIGHT
She’s used to growing in dappled light, so she’s happy in moderate shade to bright, indirect light, i.e. not direct sun.
 
WATERING 
Check her once a week and if the top two inches of soil are dry it’s time for a drink. She’s less thirsty in winter.
